2020 Sunshine Blogger Award

This past week, I was nominated by the lovely Kristaleagh of Millennial Whiskey for the Sunshine Blogger 2020 Award. I feel so honored to be nominated for two awards by my peers this year; it means so much to me especially since I just started blogging this past March. If you haven't heard of or checked out Millennial Whiskey, I'd highly recommend! She's a lifestyle blogger and mainly targets the Millennial generation, talking about different issues and problems our generation faces. Please go give her some love, you can access her site here.

What is this award?

As I've said before, this award is given to other bloggers by their own peers who feel they are worthy/deserving of the award. Once given to a blogger, they are to nominate other peers who believe help inspire others through their writing and creativity.

The Rules:

1. Thank the blogger who nominated who and give them some love and recognition by promoting their blog.

2. Answer the 11 questions that were asked by your nominator.

3. Nominate 11 peer bloggers and give them 11 new questions.

4. Notify your nominees of their nominations.

5. List the rules and include the sunshine blogger award logo.

With all that being said, let's get started!

Questions Asked of Myself:

What's your favorite part about your blog?

My favorite part about my blog is the ability to share my thoughts on health and wellness. I hold a B.S. degree in Public Health: Health Promotion and a minor in Nutrition Studies. I have always been health conscious for as long as I can remember, maybe a little too conscious as I did suffer from disordered eating in my formative years. Unfortunately, I have never been able to achieve a career out of it (asides from occasional receptionist jobs), so I have decided to create my blog Peace, Love, Harmony to help those achieve a happier and healthier life in all aspects of health.

What do you think is the best blog post you've written to date?

The best blog post I've written to date would have to be when I discussed disordered eating. In my post I discussed a tragedy that occurred in my life that did leave a ripple effect and was the root cause of my disordered eating. It's a very sensitive topic to talk about and incredibly taboo in the male population so that's why following that particular post, I reached out to a fellow male blogger The Doubting Thomas and asked him his thoughts on disordered eating among the male population. My post on disordered eating reached almost 100 viewers and I couldn't believe the results from it. It makes me feel good knowing that my story is possibly helping other people and spreading awareness.

Who is someone you admire?

I don't admire one single person, I admire people who are strong and use their life experiences (good or bad) and make something out of it. I admire survivors of sexual assault, abuse, disordered eating, and any other tragedy who bravely tell their stories to help others. I admire people who actively work to help promote change and better the world. Those people are the ones who make me want to be a better person.

What does your perfect day involve?

My perfect day involves being surrounded by my loved ones, settled around a nice bonfire, and telling stories. Growing up, one of my fonder memories is sitting outside with my family around a bonfire. Didn't matter if it was summer or fall, almost all year round we had nightly bonfires.

What is your favorite holiday tradition?

Wow that's hard, because depending on the holiday I have several favorite traditions. My favorite Christmas holiday tradition was going to midnight mass on Christmas Day and when we came home, we would hang out for another hour or two drinking and having snacks and cookies.

What is your least favorite household chore?

No question about it: dusting. I absolutely hate it. I think it's because you have to move several different items to dust your furniture, then move them back. Takes SO much time.

If you could have one person, dead or alive, over for dinner who would it be?

One person I would have over for dinner would have to be my paternal grandmother. She passed away shortly before I was born and it was not until recently that I found out about my true lineage. I always knew what different ethnicities I originated from, however I never asked the questions where the answers didn't make sense. After the discovery, I have even more questions than answers and unfortunately, my father does not have them so I would love to first meet her and ask her the questions I would love to know.

What's the best thing that has ever happened to you?

This will be corny, but my husband is the best thing that has ever happened to me. He is my rock and my best friend. We've been through a lot in the four years we have been together, most was great however there were a lot of dark times and we always came out stronger because of it.

What's your go-to snack food?

My go to snack is always berries. In my opinion (and I plan on writing a blog post about this sometime in the future), berries are the best type of fruit for you for they hold the most antioxidants and fiber. I go for a cup of fresh mixed berries, tsp of flaxseed, tsp of chia seeds, tsp of bee pollen, along with a drizzle of local honey. Super delicious and super healthy for you!

What's your favorite tv show to watch over and over?

Holy cow I have a lot, probably too many. I watch a little too much tv 🤷‍♀️. Three of my favorite shows that I watch constantly are The Office, Friends, and Avatar The Last Airbender. They're all super comforting to watch and are great background noise as well.

What is something you hope people think about you?

This is something I sometimes struggle with, as I'm sure everyone does, however it's something I believe is important for self-acceptance and self-love. I try not to care what anyone thinks about me. I think it's important to set examples for others, however whether people like you or not based on who you are is not relevant to your own personal growth and self-love. Overall, I believe it's important to be a good person, make good choices, and do the right thing however what others think of you is not important, it's what you think of yourself that's important.

My questions:

1. What is one thing you will never take for granted ever again since the beginning of COVID-19?
