A Review of 30 Days of Yoga//Week 4

Well ladies and gents, we did it! We completed 30 days of yoga and wow, do I notice a difference in overall mood and health. Before I began this challenge, I found I was pretty anxious both at work and home and I found my breathing was not as great as it should have been. What's amazing about yoga is that it's not only a great workout to stretch out, but it also focuses on your breath and this is something I needed desperately. Do not underestimate the power of breath; whenever you feel stressed out, breathe; whenever you feel your anxiety start to creep up, breathe; whenever you're feeling angry or upset, BREATHE. After these 30 days, I've noticed my anxiety and stress levels have decreased due to my breathing exercises and my breathing overall has become much fuller and better quality.

When I first began this challenge, I honestly wasn't sure if I was going to make it the full 30 days. My schedule at work was about to change, working nine hour days for three days per week...yeah no way would I have energy to commit to yoga, however I surprised myself. I was determined to finish these 30 days strong and hell, I did it! Some days were incredibly hard, when all I wanted to do was curl up with a glass of wine or tea and just binge watch some T.V. and I had not completed my yoga session for the day, however I knew I would regret it and be upset with myself later so I sucked it up and did it. For those of us who have that attitude that we don't have enough time for ourselves, whether it be a quick 30 minute workout, an hour trip to the spa, or even a soak in the tub, I say to you that the time is not there because we don't make the time. We make the time to wake up early to go to work. Why? Because we HAVE to (well, at least it's responsible to), so why don't we have the same mentality to take care of our health? How do we expect to take care of our other daily responsibilities such as going to work, taking care of our kids, and walking the dog if we don't put our health as a priority? I'll let you in a little secret, if your health is not in check, then you won't be able to do any of the above tasks. Love and take care of yourself as you love and take care of others ♥.

Overall, I highly recommend yoga to anyone and everyone, and when I say that I really mean it. Are you someone who wants to work on stretching and mobility? Yoga is right for you. Are you someone who's new to exercise and unsure what to do first? Yoga is right for you. Are you a body builder? Yoga. Are you a cross country runner? Yoga. Are you an olympic athlete? Guess what, yoga is for you! For those of you who are considering or are just entering the yoga world, a great start would be "Yoga With Adriene". She has short and longer videos that range in ALL areas of focus, whether it be neck mobility, stretching in your legs, or firing up your core. The best part, she has a warm and welcoming environment in her videos, incredibly personable while still teaching, and has her trusty sidekick Benji who is always more than willing to show demonstrations such as downward facing dog and corpse pose.

I hope this post finds you well and inspires you to give yoga a try. I promise you won't regret it. Peace and love to you all♥.
