The word mother is not only a noun, it's a verb. We all have a special mother figure in our life-whether it be our biological mother, an aunt, grandmother, adopted mother, or close friend we need to show them how much we care and appreciate everything they do for us and what better way than a thoughtful gift. Sometimes trying to think of that special gift that would be meaningful to them can be hard, thankfully I'm here to help you out with my 2021 Mother's Day Gift Guide!
Giving yourself a nice facial and treating yourself to some nice skincare products is a great way of showing yourself some self-care and love. It can also be a great gift for your mom and anyone special in your life. Pictured here are some of my favorites brands at the moment, which are all cruelty free and vegan!
The Paula's Choice Calm Nourishing Cleanser has been my favorite cleanser for helping me clean my skin of any extra dirt, sebum, and oil leftover from my first cleanse (always double cleanse) and is great for normal to dry skin. I typically have oily skin however I've been using it this past winter when my skin was incredibly dry and it did WONDERS. Paula's Choice has been my favorite skincare brand overall for not only are they cruelty free and vegan, the majority (if not all) of their products are fragrance free (saving you from any sensitivity) and they also have amazing ingredients making them the perfect skincare brand for just about anyone and everyone!
Versed has been another big favorite of mine for they also have great ingredients, are cruelty free & vegan, and fragrance free. They definitely stand out for me since they are a little more easily accessible for you can actually purchase this brand and featured product below at your local Target or other drugstore (select stores and locations may apply). Versed The Fix Emergency Eye Mask has been a LIFESAVER for me on several occasions. This is not a product you use on a daily (at least I don't)- it's mainly meant for those mornings when you didn't receive a whole lot of sleep and/or a restful sleep the night before. Composed of caffeine and cucumber juice, it will help waken your skin and brighten up any dark circles underneath your eyes. This product is also incredibly simple to use-taking only ten minutes from start to finish. You take a small pea-sized amount on your ring finger (most gentle on your eyes), warm up between your fingers for about 10 seconds, then apply both underneath your eye and your temporal area, let sit for 10 minutes, and then remove. Incredibly easy to use and really does the fix when you're in an emergency!
Last, but certainly not least, is Pacifica! Pacifica was one of the first drugstore brands I had tried when I started to become more conscious of cruelty free and vegan products. I first tried out their shower cleansers (which are also amazing!), and once I started exploring more products this brand took a backseat. I recently picked up their coconut scented Vegan Care Balm and holy moly is this the perfect balm for the spring and summer time! Infused with probiotics and plant-powered ingredients such as Vitamin E, cacao see butter, and sunflower seed oils, this product with replenish any lost nutrients and help repair your lips AND skin! Now I will say that this product is not my favorite lip balm I've tried (mainly due to how thin the texture is) however that's not to say that this product doesn't get the job done-your lips will feel so silky soft afterwards!
You know what also goes great with skincare products? At home spa day products! Since the beginning of Covid-19, these products have become increasingly popular since shut down of massage parlor's, nail salons, etc. One of my birthday presents last year was actually an at home foot spa that helps massage the soles of my feet and let me tell you it's one of my favorite things! Recently I started researching and looking into body brushing and if you're unsure what body brushing is, it's pretty much exactly as it sounds like. I broke down one day and purchased a body brush from Osea and it's continued to stick into my skincare routine. The Osea body brush is amazing for helping detoxify and exfoliate the skin by brushing away dead skin cells, leaving skin looking younger and more refreshed. This is best used by starting at your feet and working your way up towards your heart. Would highly recommend using before your shower.
Another great product (that I wish I had a picture of) is the Herbivore Amethyst Exfoliating Body Scrub. If you're an avid follower of mine, you probably know that I'm not a big fan of scrubs, I believe they're a little too harsh on the skin (more particularly your face) and can even damage your skin if used too frequently. HOWEVER, I'm also a big runner and my feet require A LOT of tlc, and that's where this body polish comes in handy! The best part about this polish is that it does pretty much melt into your hand once you start massaging it in to your body so it's not too harsh on your skin. I use this product while I'm in the shower and once I'm out, my feet feel so silky smooth. This product certainly does deliver amazing results for the callouses on my feet are practically gone!
Once I'm out of the shower, I love to rub in some body oil and my favorite so far has been Luna & Quartz's Callisto oil . Luna & Quartz not only carries body oils, they also carry other skincare products such as bath salts and candles. They recently released a new scent called Fortune Teller and I had to try this scent in both their bath crystals and candle and wow, this has upped my bath time experience! The bath crystals are absolutely beautiful in the bath, turning the water purple and filling the tub with beautiful florals. This in conjunction with a candle really takes the stress away and makes you feel as if you're in a nice bath house. Speaking of candles, this is the perfect time to segway into our next category!
Aromatherapy is something that's a daily ritual in my routine, right when I get up in the morning I either light a candle or some incense and for my bed time routine, it's either a diffusion of lavender or peace & calming oil in my YoungLiving diffuser. Aromatherapy can be an amazing contributor in your self-care routine, especially if it's used daily. Whether your mom prefers candles, incense, or oils, or if they've never tried aromatherapy, then this would be the perfect gift!
If you're thinking of going with essential oils, then I would highly recommend checking out Young Living for they have a wide variety of different household and health products for not only yourself, but your kids and pets! Wide selection of diffusers, nutritional oils, muscle rubs, and different oil blends-you'll be shopping +
Flowers, more particularly a bouquet of roses, are the typical gift to give your mom and/or your wife for mother's day, birthday, or any holiday that celebrates that special woman in your life. The one sad thing about flowers is that they die pretty quickly, and that's why Doses of Roses is so unique. Doses of Roses is a brand based in Beverly Hills- Los Angeles, California that takes real roses and preserves them in 24k gold that lasts for five years! They are absolutely stunning and such a unique gift and way to show your mom how much you care and love her.
Oh boy, hair care. This is definitely something that's a trial and error process on which type of products and brands are best for your hair. I won't be getting too much into this (for this can take FOREVER), however I will be talking about a simple product that can be used for any hair type! Gisou hair perfume has been the #1 item I go for lately, I can't get enough of it! Growing up, I heard this trick from a T.V. show (Frasier actually) of putting perfume in your hair brush that way when you brush your hair-you get the scent of perfume in your hair. Unfortunately, the perfumes were way too strong and I became incredibly sensitive-developing massive headaches that would last for a day or two, so I quickly put an end to that. Recently I discovered Gisou's honey infused hair perfume and my hair has never smelt better AND I don't get headaches! It's perfect for me since I work out every day, but I don't wash my hair (except a quick rinse to get the sweat out) with shampoo and conditioner everyday (usually I only wash once or twice per week), so after my shower and a hair dry, I give my hair a couple of spritz of this perfume and then I'm good to go! If your mom also enjoys a couple of good workouts, doesn't wash her hair everyday, or just loves hair care products and perfumes-then this product is the perfect gift! This product and brand is 100% cruelty free, however since it does contain honey this product is not technically vegan.
Honestly, this one is a no brainer and not very imaginative- I get it. Jewelry has become the number one product to buy when it's a birthday, anniversary, thinking of you, or a makeup gift. Rings have been my obsession ever since I was in middle school, I just can't get enough of them and would purchase them from local artisans and street vendors any and every chance I could. I was recently gifted Aurate New York's infinity ring and I'm obsessed. I'm usually a little hesitant to purchase rings online due to sizing. I find sometimes I can be a size 6, however if I were to go to another vendor/artisan or store, I can be a size 5.5. I was and still am pleasantly surprised with how this ring was true to size. It fits perfectly on my finger and it's been the talk of the town on my Instagram page, which if you don't follow me you should definitely check it out for I talk about several other products and brands!
🐮 Almond Cow
If your mom is practicing veganism and/or prefers plant-based products such as mylks, then Almond Cow is the perfect gift for her! This at home mylk maker definitely helps you save money on your grocery shop as well as helps bring out your creative side as you experiment with different ingredients to make your mylk. Not only does this product make mylk, it can also make different cocktails as well as lemonades! It looks a little intimidating at first look, however it could not be simpler (and I plan on doing a demo on IG very soon). It's as easy as simple steps: you first pick your ingredients (base should either be oat or almond-or both), then you allow to soak (if using oats you don't need to soak), then you hit the little cow at the top, and then you have your mylk! Definitely a great purchase and would highly recommend!
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what gift you get for your mother-what matters is that you show her how much she means to you and how much you appreciate everything she has done for you. Whether it's your biological mother, adopted mother, aunt, grandmother, or any motherly figure in your life-make sure she knows how much she is loved and appreciated.
When you are looking at your mother, you are looking at the purest love you will ever know.
