I recently wrote a post discussing my new skin care routine which incorporates more treatments, and one of those said treatments was The Ordinary Lactic Acid Serum. The Ordinary is a great brand that offers affordable skin care treatments that can be used alongside your daily skin care routine. Their Lactic Acid Serum is the most mild and gentle serum in removing dead skin cells (also known as exfoliation), shrinking pores, and restoring even pigmentation across your face. When I put an order in for my first The Ordinary product a couple of months ago, this isn't what I initially ordered (which was the salicylic acid) however I'm glad the order got mixed up because this was a great introduction to exfoliation for me.
I cannot even begin to tell you how gentle this product is, when I applied it to my face it didn't even feel like anything was on! The skin absorbs it so fast so you're not standing there fanning your face for 15 minutes so you can apply your next product. Not only was it super soft to the touch, it shows AMAZING results. For those of you who don't know me, I have a massive, red birth mark square across my forehead right in between my two eye brows. Growing up was a little embarrassing to have a giant red mark in the middle of my face so I always went for the quick fix and applied cover up. After a month of using this product, my birth mark reduced in pigmentation dramatically and I don't feel I have to wear cover up every time I go out.
Now with trying any new product, I highly recommend using this product two-three times per week to start off. Regardless of this product being mild, introducing any new product to your skin can result in an adverse reaction and/or further sensitize your skin. Everyone's skin is different so always be careful and introduce it to your skin slowly (skin can be a little shy). Personally, I don't exfoliate every day to prevent over-exfoliating my skin (attacking healthy skin cells).
As much as I loved this product I may not order it again only because of how gentle and mild it is. As much as it did help in improving my skin, I believe I need a product that's a bit stronger in evening my skin tone and shrinking my pores, and I have recently started trying a new product which I will reveal in a few weeks!
Overall, I really enjoy The Ordinary and believe this product in particular is a great introduction to the brand and to those who never exfoliated; not only do their products work wonders for the skin, they are incredibly affordable (this product was less than $10) and they help conserve the environment by utilizing glass packaging (which is super cool!).
I hope this post finds you well and as always I hope you have a great rest of your day. Peace and love🕊🤍
There's a lot of beauty in ordinary things, isn't that kind of the point?
