Over the past, almost 10 years😶, I've been using an oil-based facial cleanser that my mom would make for me. It's an amazing cleanser for being home-made and you can read about it and grab the recipe here. As much as I love my mom's cleanser, I've been loving the skincare community and wanting to try new products. One product that stuck out in particular is the Youth To The People (YTTP) Kale & Green Tea Superfood Cleanser. I have heard so many people talk and rave about this product, I think mainly for the marketing of it being a superfood cleanser which, hey, they sold me on that.
This cleanser is composed of amazing antioxidants that help cut through dirt, oil, and makeup leaving your skin feeling flawless. Green Tea is amazing for the skin for it helps prevent aging; both spinach and kale are chockfull of nutrients and vitamins that are beneficial for the skin such as vitamin C, K, and E. Now, coming from a health and nutrition professional stand-point, I of course feel that you receive the benefits of these products best when consumed, however if used in your skincare routine I won't complain.
When I started using it, the first thing I noticed was the texture. As I lathered it up in my hand, it felt so incredibly soft but firm. It wasn't watery so I felt I could apply it all over my face and not have it all wash off immediately. After I washed it off, my skin felt so incredibly soft and smooth and the shine was BAM, right in your face glowing.
I mean, wow! I couldn't get over that forehead shine after rinse off! 🌟🌟🌟
There haven't been any negatives to this product that I found, except maybe the price. For eight ounces of product, it's $36 and that doesn't include shipping costs. However, I personally think the price is worth it for the quality of the product that you receive. To savor this, I made this product last for over a month by only cleansing my face once/day. Now I know what you may be thinking, this may sound a little gross but hear me out. When you wake up in the morning, the only thing that you are really washing off is any existing product from the night before that wasn't absorbed into your skin. At the end of the day is when you really need to clean your face of any oils, dirt, or makeup from the day. I started to wash my face with water in the morning and wash with my double cleanse system along with treatment at night.
At first I started to cleanse once per day to save product, however I will say that my face doesn't feel as oily as it used to be. I have heard that if you have super oily skin it could be caused by over-cleansing because the skin is desperately trying to keep your skin from drying out. I had oily skin and part of me wonders if it's because I over-cleansed, lately my skin has felt pretty normal which is pretty shocking! I'm not sure if it's caused by the cleanser or the fact that I'm only cleansing once/day, but I'm very impressed.
Another reason why I love this product is because of the packaging. You guessed it, it's in a glass bottle as opposed to plastic which is much better for the environment.
Overall I enjoyed my experience using this product and will definitely be purchasing it again in the future. Even with a higher price point compared to other cleansers, I believe it's justified with the ingredients that are used and the results that show.
